Getting to Saint Martin
Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM)
Located on the Dutch side, it’s the island’s main international airport. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes to reach the Happy Sunset accommodations, depending on traffic.
Grand Case – L’Espérance Airport (SFG)
Located on the French side, it mainly serves the neighboring islands and the French Antilles. It’s just a few minutes from our accommodations.
Getting Around the Island
Car Rental
Renting a car is recommended to make the most of Saint Martin and easily reach the beaches, the restaurants et différents quartiers de l’île.
Traffic
Distances on the island are short, but traffic can be heavy at certain times of day.
Grocery Shopping
French Side
Super U in Hope Estate, just a few minutes from our properties, is convenient for everyday grocery shopping and offers a wide selection of French products.
Dutch Side
If you arrive at Juliana Airport, you can take advantage of the drive to do your grocery shopping at Carrefour Market in Cole Bay before heading to the accommodations.
Quick Grocery Stops
You’ll also find several small grocery stores and local shops in Grand Case,Hope Estate and Marigot for pastries, wine, spices and other essentials.

Electricity
Electricity on the French side is 220V. European Type C and E plugs are used.
Currency
The euro (€) is the official currency on the French side.
The US dollar ($) is the currency used on the Dutch side.
Phone
When traveling around the island, check with your mobile provider that your plan covers both the French and Dutch sides.
Languages
French is the official language on the French side, but English is widely understood in shops and businesses.
